The Buzz About the Author

Diana Greenwood says she can’t remember a time when stories weren’t the center of her life. Growing up in Canada meant frequent snow days where reading in bed took the place of schoolwork. If kicked outside to play, she could usually finish a book by the time her mother laced up snow boots and threaded idiot strings on mittens through the sleeves of Greenwood’s parka.

“I was constantly tripping and walking into walls because my nose was in a book,” she said. “I heard nothing my mother said until I was twelve and by then I’d discovered how to smother the flashlight beam with my comforter. I didn’t hear her say go to sleep until the day I went off to college to read textbooks. I got more sleep in college than I did my entire childhood.”

Today, Greenwood writes from her studio in sunny Napa Valley. A respected wine and food writer with over 1000 bylines, Greenwood has written for newspapers, magazines, public television, websites, and advertising but writing children’s fiction is her leading love. She has completed 3 picture books, 2 middle grade novels, one young adult novel titled Insight, and is currently preventing tedium by working on two upper middle grade novels simultaneously: Three-Penny Poet and Moonshadow Madness. Greenwood is represented by Jennifer Jaeger of Andrea Brown Literary Agency.

“Writing keeps my nose in books,” said Greenwood. “I’ll never stop.”
